DENTAL PHOBIA
At Leeds
Advance Dental Care, we have for many
years treated a great many patients
who are extremely nervous of dental
treatment. Patients who are almost in
tears just sitting in the dental chair.
Phobic dental patients visit us from
all over England for a wide range of
treatments. |

AFRAID OF THE DENTIST ? |
|
We have many years experience in treating
people, who are terrified. No matter how
you feel, rest assured we have seen somebody
more nervous. The fact that you are even
reading this, puts you ahead of a high percentage
of the population.
TESTAMENTS
We have over the years received
hundreds of thank you letters from very
frightened people. A selection of these
are framed on the waiting room wall. Come
in and read them. Dental patients from London,
Manchester, Bradford, Newcastle, Birmingham,
North England and South England have been
treated by a dentist at Advance Dental Care,
in Leeds, for either cosmetic dentistry
or dental treatment under sedation.
ORAL SEDATION
To enable you to visit the surgery we can
provide you with a tablet to take, to help
relax you. For very nervous patients, we
ask you to come an hour before your appointment
to take a sedative tablet, before having
your full sedation.
DENTAL SEDATION
At Advance Dental Care, we have
always given intravenous sedation with a
consultant anaesthetist providing the sedation.
We feel that no matter what courses a dentist
goes on, a short diploma, does not compare
with a doctor's degree and lifetime of experience
in providing anaesthesia and sedation. The
art of finding a vein to provide the sedation,
can in itself be a challenge to a not so
experienced dental surgeon.
FEAR OF NEEDLES
For people with a fear of needles,
a surface anaesthetic can be provided to
the back of the hand. You will be required
to come half an hour before your appointment
for this to be applied, as it takes time
to work.
For the extreme needle phobic, inhalational
sedation can be provided and then when in
a dream-like state, a needle can be applied
to the back of the hand, and drugs given
intravenously.
MONITORING
All patients continually have their blood
pressure, pulse, oxygen levels in the blood
and heart monitored. This is not always
routinely done at other sedation clinics,
but this is a standard, which is considered
a must at our clinic.
DRUGS USED IN SEDATION
At our clinic we use Midazolam, Fentanyl
and in some instances Propofol. These are
drugs which are very safe and provide excellent
dream-like states.
